Right now, I'm washing some jalapeno peppers, then fill them with cream cheese and wrap in bacon (I love these things)...

I'm in the same boat Wookie...I'm home alone and trying to figure out what to eat. I'm thinking about firing up the grill and cooking a hamburger.

I had a boneless pork chop and french cut green beans for lunch so I'll likely do something light for supper. Like a salad or a loaf of home made bread then make french toast. Will have to see whats in the fridge.

Des and I split an order of fried mushrooms, and then had cream of potato soup and house salad with blue cheese dressing from Rafferty's, ice cream and a piece of carrot cake from the homemade pie and ice cream kitchen.

What cha got in the fridge?

Any left over meat or chicken?

Got onions or veg?

You can do:

Fajitas: Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, soy sauce, chili powder, garlic, minced, onion, thinly sliced, 1/2 lemon, juiced. Marinate the chicken and the fry with peppers and thin onion.

Stir fry: slice veg, cook most dense first (like carrots) add oyster sauce or Hoisin sauce, serve with rice or noodles

Soup: self explaintory

Stew, use a rue to thicken broth and veg serve with toast or rice, bread, biscuits

Or how about ground beef or turkey?

Burgers: self explanatory

Croquettes ground beef mixed with mashed cooked potatoes, dredge (flour/egg/Panko) deep fry

Spaghetti sauce ( I always add fennel seed) gives it that aromatic licorice like taste like sausage: tomato paste, fry it to bring out the sugars, add cooked meat, garlic, water a touch of red wine, let simmer to reduce (UNCOVERED)

Ma Bao ( ground meat, garlic, soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce, cornstarch, onions served over rice

Simple foods dont require fancy sh*t. protein/veg and starch. A protein with a simple sauce served with veg and you have a simple filling and CHEAP meal.

Simple sauces can be flour and water, flour and milk, corn starch and water.

Look up "Rue" or "Corn starch based sauce".

Drive on man.

So, just how do you make that?
It's really simple. Pick up some cheap steaks you can pound flat (these are "flat iron" steaks...$3.50 for 4 of them). Pound them flat, and smear some stone ground mustard, dijon mustard, or spicy brown mustard on one side (to taste...Doesn't take a whole lot). Chop up some onion (I like red), and some dill pickle (Clausen FTW!) and put it on the steak. Take some strips of bacon and lay them on the steak, covering the area of the steak. Roll up and secure with string or toothpicks. Brown on Med or Med Hi heat for a couple of minutes on each side, then add two and a half cups of beef broth OR 2 1/2 Cups water and beef bullion. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for an hour. Once that's done, remove the steaks and put them someplace to keep them warm. Add about a 1/2 pack of onion soup mix, and a tblsp or two of corn starch and reduce to desired thickness for the gravy. Put steaks back in just to coat with a little of the gravy and it's ready to serve.

I think a salad is in the future tonight. Might eat some chili to go with it due to the cool weather.
