i have a balanced 358 with 462 heads flat tops and zero decked the cam is solid lift with 252 int 262 ext dur at 050 and 534/522 lift. it is a old race car motor i have. what would this be like in my son's 77 lt . it has a th350 and i can put what ever gear i need (355 or 373). it will be his first car and not a dd(he bought a 1/2 ton dodge). other choices are stock 350 (stock sucks) all the way up to a 550 hp alky motor. he will be 16 in 9 months so i need to get building. i know this is a long post but i have not had a street legal car in 10 years(i'm a diesel p/u guy) and need help! i build can build my own engines so mixing of parts is no problem. if someone has a better idea i'm all for it too.

That 358 will work fine for your sons 77LT,If you want to use it on the street with that cam might look into running 3800 +stall $$$ and a very good trans-cooler $$$.Or change out the cam for a smaller one so it would be better for the street.

the cost of cam kit would be about the same as the stall http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-700350/ all the extra cams i have are bigger than the one in the motor. this is a temp motor till he saves more $$ to build a stroker(we split the cost) he paid car off and is working on his truck, then he can start on the 77. i just want to put together a toy for him for fri night(we race on sat)

+1 for putting less cam into it. Personally, I'd call Isky and ask them what the best choice would be. They've never steered me wrong.

You want a hyd cam something like the 280 magnum will have 12" vac for power brakes,230/230 @050 or the Isky 280.
