View Full Version : New best with car....I'm in the 10's!
OldCamaroNut 04-24-2010, 11:25:11 AM 2nd time out with the new combo. I posted a link a couple weeks ago to videos of the first time out and it ran a best that day of 11.13. The car was running very rich that time out. I jetted the carb down 4 thousandths, adjusted the air/fuel mix, adjusted the valves (several needed it) and took it back out last night. 3 passes, all with traction issues, all 3 were in the 10's. Best pass of the night was a 10.88@124! Checked a couple plugs after each pass and they looked to be just right. Man does it feel good and strong going down the track!
tyster 04-24-2010, 11:33:05 AM That's awesome man! I remember the first time I got into the 10's. never a better feeling, but it just keeps at ya wanting to go faster;) . I was happy at 127 mph and now wanting 130:D I think with a little better traction you go a high .70.
74RAT 04-24-2010, 12:03:52 PM congrats. it was due.

KylePBZ 04-24-2010, 01:57:55 PM Sweet! What was the rest of the timeslip?
OldCamaroNut 04-24-2010, 02:49:31 PM Sweet! What was the rest of the timeslip?
R/T - .034
60' - 1.593
330' - 4.494
1/8 - 6.957
MPH - 99.75
1000' - 9.059
1/4 - 10.883
MPH - 124.22
60' should be around 1.50, but like I said, it was spinning pretty bad. Overall though, I'm very happy with it and know there's at least a tenth more in it.
KylePBZ 04-24-2010, 03:55:55 PM Ya, you get the traction figured out and the 10th in 60ft should give a little more than that out the back.
If you really only have a 3500 converter a looser one would help a bunch, with traction of course.
OldCamaroNut 04-24-2010, 04:47:30 PM Yeah, I really do only have a 3500 converter. I'm thinking an 8 inch is in my future. I'm also going to tub the car and put some nice size slicks under it. Then my short time should be in the 1.40's, I'm thinking. That expense will happen this summer, after vacation is paid for!
OldCamaroNut 04-24-2010, 07:51:51 PM What's really cool about 10's is that the car pulls strong all the way down the track! It's nice to have top end power, instead of being a sitting duck for a more powerful car.
gregh 04-24-2010, 08:20:07 PM Very nice!!
