ModelHut, I posted here rather than PM as I thought others could benefit from the answers. If others want to chime in with these answers and/or your thoughts, that would be fine and awesome as well.

So I am curious if you weather your models? If so, could you please explain what, where, and how briefly? I have not done this and am thinking about getting into that part more. Have a friend who is into models and he tries this and was showing me some things. do you have any pics with some closeups?

Also, what do you can that vice contraption you use to paint the bodies on the scale models? Is it something someone could easily make? If so, got quick instructions? With all this said, we all have used various things to hold parts to dry. From toothpicks, to leaving them on the tree, to everything in between, but I know there is more, but.... is there some sort of all in one that will hold not just small parts, but the bodies to?

Lastly, am thinking about scale models. Basically 1/25 or larger, Am looking for a 1988 or 1990 Camaro IROCZ model. Did some searching, but not found much. Think I saw a 1990 one that Revell or AMT makes in bright red with the large rear spoiler, but it seems that there is more that I am not seeing or know of. Do you know of any? Any good places other than eBay for looking? With this, do you know of any model news whereas MPC is re-releasing some of their 60-70' Camaro's? Thought I had heard this, but not a lot of detail nor have I seen anything. Any insight on this please? Is there a website that acts as a database for all model in all scales that have been released that you know of? And lastly with the model stuff, do you just build whatever with no worry about the price of the model mint in box? Say for instance, if on has 2-3 each of the MPC '69 Camaro's or '73 Camaro where to price is $500 and $00 respectively if sought out on eBay for instance. I am kind of in that boat where I have some models that are worth quite a bit (over $50-80) that I haven't built or started on because was worried of de-value'ing them. I mean, I bought them to enjoy putting together, but I know that if something isnt the way I like it or whatever, I cannot easily go out a quickly grab another. What do you do or would you do?

Thanks for taking the time to answer here as I know I have asked a bit.

Hello I will try to answer all of the questions. I use a varity of things to hold the models when I am painting. I use a stand from Tamiya that cost 14.00 and is basically a plastic swivel base with adjustable bars on it I will take some pictures of it and post them. I also use old spray cans put a piece of masking tape on the top folded over so it is double back place body on so interior roof is touching tape and it stays in place. I do weather vehicles as well and this subject could go on for months on the diffrent products availble for weathering. baswic weathering use a sharp exacto knife and stick the tip into the model several times to duplicate rust pits use hot gun or hot blade to cut dent or warp the model. there are several paints availble from rust to dirt. Like I said this subject I could go on for months on. I have a 1940 ford that I just started weathering. I will post some pics on that as well.

Mpc will not release any models as MPC is out of business and has been for years. There is rumors right now that AMT has retooled some of the older kits and re-releasing them but just rumors right now. Good place to go to see modeling subjects is scaleauto.com you can tips on anything there for models from interior to paint etc...

As far as IROC's or 80's camaro's there are several made. I have at least 10 diffrent versions on hand currently. Most made by AMT and Revell there is some Foriegn kits as well. There is an old price guide that is out of date many many years ago to give you a reference of all the kits made. most of the kits are 1/25 1/24 scale there are 4 kits that are 1/16th and 1/12 scale iroc body style they go for 90-120 each when you can find them.

I use myatomichobbies.com when buying misc. from model kits to paint order 25.00 and shipping is free. fredsmodelworld.com has a large inventory of kits and is updated every month. modelhaus.com has parts and pieces as well as complete kits. auotcolorlibrary.com is what I use to get your paint codes to actual paint and they have color chips online so you can see what ur colors are. I will post some mor after I sleep I just got home been a very long week!

Would be nice to see some re-releases.

Pics would be awesome. So for the weathering, you say you do it on all cars or does it depend on your mood, or what?

So would you happen to have some 88-90 Camaro kits you would sell? Maybe just a couple? If so, can you PM me with what you would sell, pics, and what you want for them? Mostly for my buddy who isn't on the internet.

Weathering is for the people who want a beater or junk car. Weathering is what you make of the car I personally hate weathering a car I enjoy building replica's of restored vehicles or factory stock vehicles.Weathering can make them looke aged to absolute beat upI will load some pics of weathered vehicles for you. The 40 Ford is one I am just starting I started off by painting it semi flat black and putting chrome foil on it to replicate chrome trim the person I am building it for wanted rust on it instead of a clean rat rod he wants a real rat rod lol.

Here are a few photos of the paint stands etc

When I am done with the 40 it will have a weathered tarp on it and sitting in a garage with parts and pieces of the engine removed around it. I am currently making the seats weathered and have springs and material showing etc... The body is far from done but kinda gives you an idea how to start.

That old Camaro one is awesome as are the others.

Is that 82 Camaro the only one you have that you can get rid of? None in the 88-90 range?

Thanks for the info and pics!

So then that one isn't for sale?

If you can find other models as I discussed, that would be awesome. To add to that, I am after early second gens if you got any of those to sell. Let me know if we can work something out.

So my buddy and I tried some weathering on this car trailer I am doing for a diorama and I, just like you, don't car for it in this particular case.

Lastly, have you seen those old Estees Garage models that were done in 1/24 and 1/43 scale? Am working on those right now as well. They are pretty sweet.

Any word on those models I am interested in modelhut? I know you are probably busy, but thought I would check with you. Will send you a PM too!

Also, am curious if by chance you do any custom mold work? I am thinking about having a custom hood done for one of the models I plan to start soon. Nothing to outrageous. Just don't think I have the skills to do it and have it look real good so I thought maybe I could get someone to help.
