Step up to Hedman Hedders # 65104
They clear angle and straight plugs.
1.75" primaries and fit VERY well.

Would they be good for Vortec heads and what gap? My wires are becoming toast too fast. Thanks

I've been researching this on and off all day. My aluminum heads recommend NGK 7405 (R5672A-9) and I'm having the same problem with melting wires, 1 specifically. I emailed NGK and the response was they only carry OEM replacements and that I should try Accel.

Trying to find a shorty equivalent and all roads point to the Accel 416s (or silver version $$). My only concern is that the NGK's have a heat rating of 9. Can't tell on the Accels.

Thoughts?

I was having a problem with my brodixs and discovered that a shorter autolite that is used in neons and lawn mowers were much shorter and allowed more clearance. Worked great and no problems even on NO2 with the right heat range.

What about the reach? I saw the similar Champion CJ7's, they only have a 3/8" reach. I need close to 3/4" - is that what the Autolite's have?

I second these headers. I will be swapping out the crap ones I have as soon as I can. I had those on my 79 with a/c and cleared the plugs nicely and you could even get to them. My 80 does not have 80 so plug clearence should be perfect.
