I recently got my hands on 1985 Z28 in decent shape without a 305 motor nearby. I had a rebuilt 350-4 bolt main motor available for this car. Has anyone done this swap and can give me a heads up on any issues? Motor mounts? It has a Manual transmission. Unfortunately I live in a State with strong smog restrictions. Just want to get this Camaro running to play with.

Thanks...

Mitch

You can do this and "fake" through the smog test with all the stock emissions controls installed and functioning.

You will need to have your E-Prom replaced with a custom prom to handle the higher air and fuel flow demands.

I highly suggest you contact Tom Miller at Turbo City for assistance with the process and pieces: http://www.turbocity.com/

Do some research and look at the discontinued GM Performance Parts ZZZ 350 HO smog legal conversion for 85-up Z/28's. It has legal in California when it was available.

Make sure you upgrade your clutch system and also the engine mounts, torque arm bushings and keep the chassis flex down. The 3rd Gens are actually worse than most of the 2nd gens in some cases!
