Bellhousing vs. scatter shield. Does the scatter shield take the place of the bellhousing or is a scatter shield something that fits between the clutch and the bellhousing to keep the cluttch from tearing your feet off if you blow the clutch apart? Somebody asked me if I had a scatter shield and all could say is Uhh, I don no.
Thanks

I have a Lakewood on my car and it takes place of the stock bellhousing.

Yes, it's a replacement bellhousing that is heavy steel and completely encloses the flywheel and clutch. The primary purpose if it is to contain a flywheel and/or clutch explosion.
They're usually a PIA, but you'd sure be glad to have it if you ever had such a problem. And exploding clutch/flywheel can be very nasty.
take care,
