Paid $190.00 for the pair. I think this was a good deal, if they check out ok!

Up for auction is a set of Camel Hump heads, part # 3927186. One head is dated coded D/23/9, the other one is coded E/14/9. Heads have been cleaned, magna fluxed, and surfaced. I have everything to assemble them with included. The machine shop told me that the valve guides were loose and needed replaced or either they could insert bronze sleeves into the original guides. I had intentions of having this done, but I sold the project that the heads were for and I no longer need the heads. They are a nice set of heads - just needs the guide issue addressed and assembled. They have the bolt hole accessories also. The book shows to be used in a Chevelle/Camaro/Corvette/Chevy II. The valves I have for them are stainless swirl polished: 1.94 Intake Valve, 1.50 Exhaust Valve, 500 lift Valve Springs, Steel Retainers, 7 degree locks, and Valve Seals. All these parts are new and in the box. I have a lot of money invested in these heads and I have had them for a long time. They would make someone a nice set of heads that was looking to date code match a 69 Chevy. Thanks for looking. Please email with any questions.

You're not really going to have $1000 invested into these heads are you?

I ran a set of 186's for about 8yrs, made decent power with them to. Have you got a quote for valve guides yet?

Based on some of his previous posts, I think he is trying to get the car to be period correct. Although the head casting date would probably mean the heads were installed on a 1969, NCRS allows up to 6 months prior to the car's birth date to be considered original. Using that criteria, it might be possible to argue that the heads were installed on an early production 1970, but then again, the second gen didn't become available until Feb. 1970.

Mike, the 186 and 041 castings are very similar.

186, 041, 492 are all pretty much identical.
The X on all the heads means it is a Replacement except for the 461x which is a larger port head from SHP 327's. IE: The 360hp & up 327's

Are you looking to sell these? If so how much, I'd be interested.

My car was born a 307 2bbl car so I would never pass any type of judging test, nor would I ever try! I'm not trying to clone a Z or SS I just want a period correct head that makes good HP. I'm looking for 300-325hp and I think these will get me there. I know the head job will cost $$ but eather way, buying new heads that don't look correct, or rebuilding one of the two sets of 76CC heads, putting the money into a set of 186 seems be to better move! If I don't like them I could always sell them!!!
