A little while back I swapped my TH250 out for a 1970 Muncie. I am still running the 229 V6 that came with the car. The question that I have is does anyone know where I can get the proper clutch housing cover. I tried a cover for a V8 but the hole for the starter is in the wrong place. I would like to get one soon because I know the longer I run without one the shorter the life of my clutch.

Thanks,
Bryan

hole for the starter wrong??? i had a 229 V-6 and i didnt notice a diffrence in my plate for the 350 i have and the 229 i had , i have one for a 229 if ya want to buy it (or trade) from me... i'd think about a 350 swap insted of keeping that POS 229...

Hmmm, I did a 229 -> 350 swap and used the same plate. The starter location is slightly different for a 153 tooth flywheel as compared to the 168 tooth. I stayed with the 229 starter and 153 tooth flywheel and had no problems.

Maybe that is the difference. I found a flywheel in the boneyard that would fit my car without relocation of the starter, mainly because I bought a 168 tooth off of Ebay and it wouldn't fit with my starter location. So the problem still is that they don't seem to sell the plate for the 153 tooth, only the one for the 168 tooth setup. I suppose I'll have to see if the one that 1981coupe400ci has will fit.

Thanks for the input.
