I know ive asked alot, but this is the final combo that is going in this car in starting as soon as i order the cam.

1967 327 block, stock 4" bore, all stock flat top shortblock with 30k miles, going to run dart iron eagle platinum heads 200cc runner, edelbrock preformer RPM air gap intake, 750 holley, 1 7/8 super comps, 1.5 roller rockers. All steel car, 4 speed 2.88 first borg with 4.10 rear, 28" tires. Should be around 10:1 give or take a little.

1st. Cam. Im still debating between solid roller and solid flat tappet, if i go flat tappet i will go with an isky z25 or z27, probably the z27 because the z25 is smaller than the old duntov lift wise. But as far as roller, i am still unsure, solid roller is what id like to run, but at around 700 that's a big cost, but i believe it may be worth it since the 327s like to rev. And if i go full roller, would i need stud girdles as well?

2.Head gasket. I want to run the fel pro performance gaskets with the steel ring, but not sure which one would be right. I hear alot of guys talking about quench, but mainly for the 11:1 motors trying to stay pump gas friendly, but not sure if i need to worry about this. I know a thinner gasket would bump up my compression a little.

Ive tried contacting cam manufacturers by email, never got a response, and havent had a chance to call during business hours, but im off work tomorrow so i may call lunati and maybe another then.

Down load Comp Cams Camquest6 program. It's free. You can try just about every cam they make with it. You don't necessarily have to go with a Comp Cams cam. It'll get you in the ball park as to which size and spec's to look for.

Calling cam manufactures is a good idea too. Call as many of them as you can. Good luck! :bowtie:

With flat top pistons I don't think head gasket thickness will bother you whatever you wind up with. I'd go thin if the block hasn't been decked. If I had the cash I'd sure go with a roller cam without going ultra radical.

I believe full roller would be the best thing to do, im already getting the comp cams billet 3 piece timing cover, so it would be ready for roller. I know ill need different pushrods, but i havent bought any yet. If anything when i go bigger (11:1, maybe a 377 or 406) ill already have the lifters and everything else there, just need a new cam.

ryan, decide on the cam and then get the kit that goes with it. My hyd roller from Crower came with (at additional cost) a kit that included the lifter, retainers, springs, push rods, cam button and distributor gear. Guaranteed that everything should work together. Crower has always been responsive to my questions, both by phone and email.

btw, I think 1-7/8 primaries will be a little large for the 327. Good luck.

Ill call crower then. The hooker super comps are what dad ran and he bought them for me, so I really have no reason to bu another.

Oh, and my heads came with springs and retainers. Dart combo that they say are good for 620 lift

lunati just rec'd me a 60132, 72400 lifters and 74620 springs. Cams only 578/589 lift, so i would think my springs would be good enough, but i may be wrong, but thats another 350 for the springs (off their site). Also didnt ask what pushrod length id need. On hold with comp as we speak.

alright, isky recomended rr575, 201575, the 210tv thrust bushing, 302rhm roller lifters (second best) and the 203HG pushrods, his name was ron very nice guy, and probably just made the sale for them. He told me i can shim my current springs 50-60 thousandths and still use them, rather than lunati telling me to use their 350 dollar springs.

Oh, the kicker, lunatis springs are 1.850 height, the ones on the darts are 1.8, so their springs wouldnt have worked because the assembled hieght would have barely got the retainer, and id need a deep dish retainer to get them to work with my valves.
