I've gotta 3.08 8.2 10-bolt rear in a 72 nova right now and I think it's about to die on me. Does anyone know of a interchangeable rear i can use, or a place where i might look to find out? I dont want another 8.2, and i'd really like it to be a posi unit. Thanks for any info you might have.

'68-'74 Novas and their clones along with '67-'69 Camaro rear ends will work. The 8.5 10 bolt was used starting around '71. Your '72 should have had a 8.5, but someone could have changed it sometime. Some people say that the '75-'79 Nova rear ends are the same, but the ones that I have checked have had the spring mounts moved out about 3 inches, so check closely before buying one of these. Some of the Novas got the 7.5 10 bolt starting in '76, so don't get one of them.

You were right, it is an 8.5. I actually fixed my problem. i found a HOLE in the differential cover and had virtually no gear oil left... lol. that could have been bad
