i have a 71 camaro with a moser engineering ford 9 inch rear. here is my question: the car had competition engineering traction bars on it. i'm taking them off because they don't clear my new wheels. the problem is that these traction bars have an integral shock perch. i bought a set of new u bolts to go over the axle tubes of the ford 9 inch but i need the plate with the shock perch that the u bolts connect to. the plates ride underneath the spring & hold the spring to the diff.. i bought a stock set of plates but the holes aren't in the right place. apparently the axle tubes for a ford 9 inch rear are thicker than for a gm rear. i've called moser eng & they say they don't make anything like i'm talking about. i emailed year one and they refered me to this website. there are lots of 2nd gen camaros with ford 9inch rears on them... what do pther people do? do i redrill new holes in the stock plates or have something fabricated? does anyone make this part with the wholes in the right place? thanx for any help you can give me.

I had to drill holes in my shock plates to make SSM U-bolts fit. I have moser perches on my 9" as well. Are you selling the traction bars? If so, would you consider a partial trade for my lower shock plates?

Most of the 9" Fords had 3 inch axle tubes, just like the 8.5 10 bolts used in most second gen Camaros. I would have thought that the stock plates would have worked. Moser may use larger axle tubes in their housings. My brother had a set of the Comp. Eng. bars on his '70 Z28 and he cut off the outer ears so they would clear his tires. He had a set of 1/2 inch u bolts made at a local spring shop and didn't use the J bolts. The bars worked fine like that.
