Sorry if this has already been posted but my computer is acting up. I have a 79 berlinetta with a 305 and im looking to get the crate 350 part number 12499529. It is a long block and I was wondering when I go to drop it in will i need to buy everything new or can I use anything from the 305. I just replaced the alternator, water pump, and starter. Thank you for your help. Also how do you figure out what size headers would fit?

Everything will swap right over from the 305.

As for headers, 1-5/8 primaries would be fine for you.

A 305 and a 350 are basically the same engine with different size holes in the block. As long as they are the same vintage, everything interchanges on the outside.

Depending on the years... You might need a different dipstick.
You probably want to replace the frame-side motor mounts too.

Even the old exhaust manifolds will fit if you don't currently have the funds for a different exhaust system.

+1, on the outside the blocks are identical. Once you pop the heads, thats where the similarities stop!

Saves you some money! Just clean up the parts and swap em over!
