Not looking good. haven't had a chance to change the fluid yet. But this is what it started doing today.
It normally has a hesitation (which its been having since i got the car 4 months ago) But today..
When it shifted from 1-2 it hesitated really bad and finally shifted.
When it went to shift from 2-3 it felt really bad. It felt like it tried to shift 3 or 4 times and then it felt like it had been slipped into neutral for a second(revved freely) and then shifted into 3rd.
After it shifted into 3rd....it was smooth driving for the other 40 minute drive(no shifting...straight shot).

preparing for the worst

Well what kind of tranny do you have, is it a Muncie or a Borg Warner. I am currently in the process of re-building my Borg warner.
I had to buy a re-build kit and a cluster gear, but the rebuild kit by its self was $135 and includes everything you need to re-build it. All the snap rings, main bearings, syncro...etc.

His tranny is an auto. Got to be either a TH350 or a TH400.
