I got a 82 Camaro with a stock rear-end and i was wanting a detroit locker if anybody had one here. Am pretty sure it is a 7.5" 10 bolt...not real familiar with the thirdgens.
Thanks

Dont waste your time. If you plan on keeping the car for a while and eventually making any decent power ditch it for a better rear. The 7.5's are garbage. With any sort of power and traction they break easily. They are unfortunately the same rears in the 4th gens as well. I had a 99 WS.6 and would go through a ring and pinion every couple of months w/ only about 320rwhp and around 350 ft lbs. Dont waste the money on a locker and start looking for a 12 bolt or even an 8.5" 10 bolt.

Or go over to either Currie and check out a nine inch or Mosers for their completely new 12 bolt..

Strange Engineering also has a 12 bolt for the 3rd gen Camaro. I can get you a locker for the 7.5, but as stated above, it may not last long.

the reason why i was going to stick with the rear end is the guy who had it before was running constant low 12's but just last week he ran a 11.45 and gernaded the rear end. I will probably go to a 9" so i can change gears quick.
thanks guys

The 9" would definatley be a good idea. I thought you might have money consraints asking about the 7.5. I have known a lot of guys w/ 4 gens including myself to go 12's w/ the 7.5 w/ and w/out problems but they certainly NEVER like to go 11's.

im pretty sure i will go with a 9" now. I can get just a housing with all the brackets and the torque arm bracket for 585 then i will get gears and axles and i will be set.
