Finally got the engine cleaned up a bit. The first image is just after tossing it into my Camaro after the engine sat in a cold garage for a couple years which is why the water pump looks like exteme doo doo. This engine only probably has 700 miles on it. It was one of those Goodwrench 350 engines I had it in my 70 and yanked it out when I got rid of it so it sat until I got my 71.

Same edelbrock intake as above just painted with VHT wrinkle finish.

One of my new favorite things, ARP bolts, I bought these just cause I needed new ones, then it lead to me getting ARP carb studs, water pump and alternator bolts..etc.

Dig the wrinkle black, used it on a set of M/T valve covers once!

Do you have to do anything special to apply the wrinkle black finish? How does it hold up to engine heat on timing and valve covers?

the valve covers came like that. The intake paint was actual engine paint made by VHT w/ wrinkle finish. I didnt do anything other than go over it with a red scotch bright pad before painting it. The directions say to put it on heavy in a cross hatch pattern. The water pump was just a black powder coated one I ordered from summit.

Thanks for the comments. I now found that It looks like I will have to get a different alternator bracket then the one I had in the first picture. I had painted it to match the intake, however with the new water neck the bolts are recessed in the housing so it doest look like that one will work. Now I hope which ever one I get the ARP bolts I bought will work. Hopefully i can find one at the speed shop today.
