well Im disappointed in my Zs performance at low rpms it seems ok. But when i want to get on it it seems like I get no pull about 2500 rpms and up. It speeds up but the accel sux. The motor sound like its hauling azz with no go. Has my Trans seen better days? or is my motor really that weak? I have never had a auto before so I dont know.

Hmmmm, check your total timing, perhaps the mechanical advance is stuck or something simple like that.
Also, what heads do you run, they could be a limiting factor as well.

Judging by his username my guess would be it's a 1981 Z http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/tongue.gif

My 1979 Berlinetta is showing the same symptoms, strong at take off and "pillow kicking" at higher RPMs if you know what I mean.
I also suspected the tranny to be the culprit, mainly beacuse it also makes this unpleasent vibrating/scuffing noise at about 1700-2200 RPM (Could that be the torque converter?).
Now I'm more into the timing being the cause, since it makes more sense.

I wouldn't be quite so quick to blame the transmission, I had something one time that seemed like it could be the transmission, the engine would be sluggish and rev way up, and the transmission wouldn't shift for like 30 seconds. After months of this, I finally tried a different coil and it ran like a new car! I mean it could be your transmission, but it also could be something wrong with your engine, too.

It could be alot of stuff, semi-plugged exhaust, timing problems, fuel delivery problems or just a poor state of tune. Trannies usually go bad the opposite way, they slip at slow speeds when torque is high but can feel fine at higher speeds until there is a load, which once again is caused by torque.

Check the tranny fluid, if it doesnt smell burnt, is red and its not low or overfull than your probably fine in the tranns department.
