what diffence is the drivetrain from a 1976 coupe and a 1977 Z28. they didnt make Z28s in 76. is it the same as z28?
also my car, V-6 auto 76, needs power, cant even spin the tires. even though it only has 36K on it. I want to put a 350ci engine in it. What trany do i get? Also what do i need to re gear to, with a near stock crate 350 what will i be running on the 1/8th of a mile?

I know 77.5 Z28's came with the same 8.5 rear end you have but fitted with a 3.42:1 posi.
Now I'm guessing a bit from here on. The drive shaft should be the same and the TH350 case might be the same depending on what V6 you have. According to the guy that built the TH 350 in my 77.5 Z28, extra clutches were already installed. Since my trans was original, I assume they were factory installed or he was blowing smoke up my azz. Entirely possible as his HD rebuild didn't last 1 year of street driving behind a moderately hot rodded 350 sbc even with a cooler and all.
Torque converter is probably different and depending on what V6 you have, the starter, flexplate and so on is probably different as well.
TH350's are a dime a dozen so I would just find a small block V8/TH350 combo and swap it all in as one unit.

I thought 76s had inline 6s? who would go through all the trouble to put a V6 in your car? just curious.
