I just need to know straight up what is the cheapest easiest and strongest 6spd for my 73 z i have a saginaw 4spd now and i have nothing but troubles. Also with all of these trannys which bellhousing and crossmember will i have to get. THanks

The T56 would probably be the cheapest 6 speed tranny

"Cheapest, easiest and strongest" are rarely used to describe the same thing.

Well, that depends on which T56 you choose.

There's also a ton of info in these forums. Try searching for 't56'.

Also, if you're looking at brand new transmissions, and want to lower the cost a bit, check out the GM TKO 5sp OD. It's a bit stronger, and definately less money at $1795. It's also a simpler install.

The Richmonds and TREMECs are all very durable and high quality transmissions, so there's not much advantage in those areas.

You can use your bellhousing and clutch setup for most of them, and will have to modify your crossmmember for the TREMECs and move your crossmember rearward for all of them.

I love mine. Nothing like running 2K rpms at 80-85 mph and still get 20 mpg.
