Thinking of getting the Carter electric pump that states has a "internal" regulating valve. Do the people who run them, run them without a pressure regulator?

There's a reason why most setups have a pump at the rear running at a higher pressure (~15 PSI) with a regulator up near the carb to knock it down to final (lower, ~6 PSI) pressure. I run a low pressure electric like that in my Malibu but IN COMBINATION WITH A BLOCK MOUNTED MECHANICAL PUMP. The combination of the two can fill a bucket in no time and pressure holds at 6 PSI like a pit bull under all conditions. 1980RS 03-06-2010, 09:52:03 PM I ran a carter pump with the larger inlet and outlets and that pump had a lot of pressure creep and did not stay very steady, then last year it burned out, it was 15 years old. I bought a mallory that needs no regulator and that one is steady as a rock at 5.5 shawntmartin 03-07-2010, 08:31:45 AM I'm using a Carter electric mounted next to the gas tank and the pressure at the carb is 5.5-6 psi.
