I need to replace my clutch, and was wondering what setup would best suit my needs. I've gone back and read earlier posts, and see good & bad things about Centerforce. Mostly good reports on Hays which is what I have now ( no complaints with it. It has quite a few miles on it.) Most of my driving is on the street, but I may make an ocassional trip to the strip. I have an 11" disc w/ 1 1/8 x 26 spline input shaft. Somewhere around 400 HP and Drag Radials on a 3400 lb. car. 4.10 posi rearend. Thanks for any input you may have.

I just replaced my clutch/P-plate with a 11" Hays street/strip set up. It's great, I haven't hit it really hard yet since I haven't gotten enough breakin miles but it made a lot of difference in rolling throttle response. I'd recommend getting a borg and beck P-plate if your changing yours. The reason I went with this set up is because it's the same set up my uncle uses in his national record holding NHRA stocker. I also have to say if your not really smooth with the clutch it gets a little jerky starting off in 1st gear.

I bought a 11" Hays clutch and pressure plate from Summitt and I have to say that the centerforce clutch it replaced was much better. I had the Hayes clutch for about 2 years before my motor went bad (spun bering). I removed the pressure plate and a spring dropped out of it! The Centerforce lasted about 3 years. The problem with the Centerforce was the pressure plate wouldn't disengage. I took it off and one of the braces in the pressure plate fell out. Both of the clutch/pressure plates went through occasional trips to the dragstrip and spirited city driving in my 400 horse Camaro The Centerforce had a much lighter pedal, seemed to grip much better than the hayes clutch, and its internal didn't fail like the Hayes. The Centerforce I had was the Gold one and the Hayes I had was the street strip one.
