1980 Z28
3500lbs with driver.
430hp/430 torque (advertised)
runs 12.9's@107 (129's@108 on street tires)
TH350
3.42 gears
26"x10 ET Streets

The torque converter in my car now allows the tires to break loose at just about exactly 2000rpm.

What converter are you currently using? I would bet an 11" would be a good choice, along with a big cooler seeing how those gears are going to work it hard.

If you are only racing this car I say get a good "hard hit" converter 3000-3500 rpm. Look at your cam specs and see where recommended rpm range is.
If this is a street/strip ride I say get a "soft hit" 3000 rpm converter. In my experience custom built converters are by far the best but it all depends on who builds them.
If you live in a city it is hard to get by with a 3000 rpm converter. I live in a small town and have no problems with a converter I can foot brake to 2800 rpm.
