I have '72 small block car w/ a 4-speed and I want to add a 454. I have been told that my SB clutch linkage will not work with my 454. Does anyone know where to get these items and how? Does anybody have a stock looking 396 car w/ a 4-speed for photos or reference? I could use the help, Thanks

I believe the only difference is where the ball pivot mounts. One goes in the bell and the other in the block. The z-bar may be longer for one too.
ask in the swap meet section for parts. someone's bound to have them

My 454 fits in front of my 1973 muncie just fine (didn't change anything).

There should be no difference. Just to give you an idea how good GM is at not changing a thing, My Z-bar, pivot balls, push rods and clutch arm from My 77.5 Z28 dropped right into my 71 Formula 400 which has a Pontiac 400.

I've done this swap lots, and never a problem. Everything hooks right up.
There is one thing, though. Make sure that the blockside pivot ball is all the way in. Sometimes people leave it a few threads out on Mk IV big blocks because it can be difficult to wrench it all the way in due to clearance problems between block casting and wrench.
If you don't get it all the way seated it WILL break.
