Just wondering what a stock 85 700R4 could handle hp/tq wise? It has some modifications: shift impover kit, vette servo, 11-vane pump.. Just switched to 3.42 rear & 28" tires... Would I be safe to install this tranny w/ it's stock converter behind my 400c.i. w/ above gears? Motor is like 2 steps above stock...Est rwhp @ 300-325..
Thanks

Not much. I had one in a 85 Caprice, and the stock 305 ate it up in the first 100k miles. That isn't a performance tranny.

What did you do as far as the crossmember issue? Did you buy their's or did you move yours back & drill new holes? If so, was it a pain to line up, etc.??

I did purchase their crossmember. It was a tubular one they just came out with. Fit pretty good but had to notch my exhaust in one place but no big deal. it was made to use my existing mounting holes. pretty easy to install.
