The isky has a smaller lobe separation and less lift, but not by much. I prefer to buy a cam kit verses buying separate cam and lifters, so if you say go with isky please tell me what lifters you would run with them as well. Car will be street/strip weekend warrior. Everything else is already bought so please, dont insult a particular part that i know some of you dont like from previous posts.

I've never used either brand. I was looking at Comp Cams Xtreme Energy hydraulic flat tappet cams. I read that they were noisy and CC's was having higher then usual warranty issues with that series of cams. That's as close as I ever came to using CC's products. I went with a Lunati instead.

I've heard a lot of really good things about Isky's products. If I didn't buy the Lunati I probably would have went with either Isky or Crower.

I think either one of the two cams you posted will work well. They might like a little more gear then 3.73. Someone else will have to answer that though. Most SBC cams are based on a 350 so your operating range may move up a few 100 RPM's with your smaller 327.

If you get the Isky, look at their Special Oiling Solid Lifter pt# SO 202-H. They have a hole in the bottom of the lifter to put pressurized oil where the lifter and lobe make contract. Call Isky and see if they recommend them for street use. CC's has a similar type lifter, pretty much everyone does now.

Good luck!

I just installed a Comp Cams 282 hydraulic roller over the weekend. I haven't drove the car yet, still fine tuning.

It does seem to rev quicker. Thats all I can tell so far.

I have used the 282S but in a 455 Pontiac. Very nice street cam for my engine but not sure how it will run in your car. I know Hot Rod ran a test on the 282S on a 8.8 c.r. 350 and it pulled around 15" of vacuum at 1000 rpm and 13.5 at 850 so may work fine with your 10 c.r. 327. I am running a 228-228-108 lsa Isky in the 455, another nice cam. That would be an ideal cam for your 327 and am sure Isky could grind it for you on a 108 LSA as they have this cam in their catalog on a 112 LSA or they may tell you to use the 112 LSA. As a side note, you can usually get the Isky cams cheaper by buying direct from them. Call their tech line and ask them. I think the 240 Isky may be a little too big for your 327 but you can ask them. Crower makes a nice 230-236 .458-.468 112 lsa solid cam that is said to work very well in a 302 and 327. I have not used that cam but I have used a CRower cam before, very high quality. Have used several Comp cams also with no problems.

I just remembered that comp makes a 270S-8 which specs out at 235-235 on a 108 lsa. It is in their specialty cam section in the back of their master catalog. Also, Lunati has a solid lifter cam that might work well, #41055, 232-232-.487 gross lift, 108 LSA.

Looks at the howards cams, and the direct lube lifters. They work good.

Im really leaning torwards a roller cam now, solid roller, but the smallest anyone makes @ 108lsa is howards with 580 lift (at least while searching summit)

And im thinking thats gonna be a little big for my setup, my heads with current springs can take .620 lift, but still probably too much cam for this 327 id think.

Edit: found smaller lifts at 110 (Comp) and 112 (lunati) lsa's

Im thinking the lunati 50139 sounds like the best for my application, but opinions?

the spring pressure would still be different, going to a solid roller, versus a flat tappet if im not mistakin.

I also run the the 282 Hydraulic roller from Comp Cams. Havent go the motor in yet so cant tell you much about the cam. I know a few people in my town run this cam on there small blocks and it seems to perform real well.

I got my engine running last week with my Comp Cams XR282 hydraulic roller. I can't tell much difference between it and the XE284 it replaced. The XE284 actually had a rougher idle than the 282 roller.

I don't care, I'm just happy to know I won't be replacing anymore flat cams. I bought my XR282 cam and lifters brand new for $300 off Craigslist, Jeg's price was almost $700. I was looking at getting a bigger cam until I came across this steal.
