I've always wondered if there would be a noticeable difference in going to a taller tire. Well, this weekend I switched from a 235/60/15 in back to a 255/60/15 in back! WOW! I can feel a cosiderable difference.

Plus, my car always balded the tires bad on the 1/2 shift and anything over 3K on the tach got a good frying on the 2/3 shift. Now it seems with the taller tire, it really minimizes my spinning through these shifts!

Anyone else experience this much difference?

It's partially the "tallness" i.e. height of the tire that's making a difference here- but it's also the width and the brand/condition of the tire (you've on raised the actual height of the tire by just under an inch i.e. overall height). Evem if you're using the same brand of tire you had previously- tire specs. change continously- so the tire you bought 2 years ago is of brand 'x' is significantly different than this years brand 'x' model.

Taller tires will sometimes slow your quarter mile times if your engine cannot pull it. If memory serves correct, you loose about 7% of your torque when swithching from 26" tires to 28" tires, but, if you have the engine and the correct gearing you will have a bigger footprint to get off the line with the taller tires.
