I noticed that the newer Silverado Chevy trucks (even with the 8.1L BBC motor) has a 6 spd ZF tranny as an option.

Any take on this as an aftermarket replacement ?

"NEW" price for one is $3100 and change (thanks to Chris http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif)....and I'm looking to see if anyone has heard good or bad aboot it ehh ? http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

Wayne, what are the ratios on it? If they are extremely wide I am pretty sure it wouldn't be good for road racing.

Edit- Answered my own question. They are:

1: 5.79
2: 3.31
3: 2.10
4: 1.31
5: 1.00
6: 0.76

That 1-2 shift probably isn't desireable. I could be wrong, though- I'm not a road racer.

That 5.79 would be for pulling stumps http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/cool.gif

Definitely not a street gear. I have one similiar in my 79 K20.
