OK,

I have always wanted to come to Carlisle and meet some of the fine folks on this board. I live only a couple of hours away so it might be stupid NOT to attend.

There is a possiblilty, if things continue the way they are, that I will be out of work in June. I would probably NOT come down and stay overnight, mostly a cost issue, remember I am jobless.

So I guess that my question is this:
Could I drive my Camaro, oh yeah lovin the T-56, to Carlisle, bring it inside the gates, park it in a specific area where I can keep an eye on it and hang out for the day?

If so what arrangements need to be made in advance? How much does it cost to get in. I would NOT have my car judged or shown other than in being on the grounds.

I guess that my main goal would be to see all of the cars, second goal meet people from this board, third goal have fun with my car on the longest trip it has ever taken.

I am asking these questions months in advance because before I let any of you'ns see my car up close, I may want to comepletly re-build it! I have time so it may just happen.

Thanks in advance for the advice,
Brent

WOW, Class 30 is $30 (pre-reg. only) and it includes admission for 2 adults and 2 children !! that is a deal !
I will definitely be bringing one of my Camaros.
Hopefully the 79 is road worthy by then.
I was hoping to take it to Ocean City for the Cruise weekend in May.
If it can make 3.5 hours to Maryland, it can make a little over an hour to Carlisle.

I bought a sticker and camp sticker for around $50 I think, claiming i was bringing the camaro for the non-judge section.

I flew in and was able to catch a ride from a friend of mine. Then from there on it was all fun with a little mystery added when CB's card showed up! LOL

The biggest cost I had was the plane tickets but I bought those before i was laid off.

I hope to go again, but depending on where I am at is if i will fly again or drive there.

I do the display only class that gets you all weekend access & show field parking for a whopping $30. I pay it the day I get there.

Here's what you do.
Get a tent & a sleeping bag.
Pay the $30 to show your car, like mentioned above.
Drive to carlisle. Pull into the gate. Then swing over to camp nasty and hang out. Your car is parked over where all of us are.
Next day (could be friday or saturday, same concept).... drive your car over to the show field. Hang out.
at 5PM, drive your car back over to camp nasty or if it's saturday and you don't feel like hanging around - drive home.

We have a whole block of camping spaces and cars, trucks & trailers parked over at camp nasty. So camping for you is effectively free.

Camping works well because there will be at least 20 - 40 people hanging out until 2AM & BS'ing. So when you're ready to turn in, get in your tent. Your car is parked a couple feet away and nobody is going to bother anything. Your $30 pays for you to get into the gate. You can show your car or park it over on the show field or leave it over at camp nasty. I'd park it at the show field.

We have food & stuff and can really take care of ourselves. We go out to eat once as a club.

In my case I won't even need a tent most likely. I'll probly be in the Suburban and sleep in it. Can't wait to go and meet y'all.

Carlisle really is the deal of the summer for what you get. A whole weekend of looking at some world class cars, hanging with the folks from the board, cheap eats between the Saturday afternoon and evening cookouts, I think camping's $25 for the whole weekend, and admission for the whole weekend included in your registration. Comes to well under $100, depending on what you bring to the cookouts and what class you register in. The biggest expense if you don't stay at a hotel is the gas to get there and back. It definitely wins the "bang for your buck" category! :)

I'll probably get the razzberry for this, but are there showers close by in this tent city? :o

And can you park your tow vehicle close by? Anybody bring an RV there?

Yes. Yes. Yes (not me, but there are plenty of RVs parked in the area)

Stuff (huge picture alert).

Looking from where we park to camp nasty:
http://www.nastyz28.com/carlisle09/P6250002.JPG

everythings real close.
The showers are 150 yards up the driveway at the bathroom facility.

Rebel invasion. We got further north than Lee back in 1863

Several of the ladies take it upon themselves to try and feed everyone.
So nobody starves.

They're camping too... but cheating. We have more fun however.

Kids everywhere, having a ball. There's a kidszone at Carlisle too.
http://www.nastyz28.com/carlisle09/P6260084.JPG

Nobody starves either (saturday afternoon buffet, all invited)

Cool thing about this - that's our club nasty tent. freekin huge.
Coolest club of the event - 2 years running now.
http://www.nastyz28.com/carlisle09/P6250021.JPG
(probably cause the carlisle head cheese partakes in the buffet... or that we help pull beaucoup 2nd gens & folks to this event.)

This is taken next to the bathroom/showers... 150 yards from camp nasty. And across the way (about 300 - 400 yards) is where our tent is out on the showfield.

Everything is nice and close. Just show up and get into the gate and you're set. You need a sticker on a vehicle to drive in (camping or showing will do it).

You can drive back/forth in the morning/evening and park your car close to camp nasty.

The nancys (like bonzo & todd, etc...) typically hang out at camp nasty until very very late in the evening (early morning) and then beat feat to their fancy hotel rooms. We just shuffle over to our tents and get in.

I'd like to camp out of my suburban too but laura hasn't bought into that idea yet. She has this freekin air matress that I hate that she absolutely must have, along with a ton of other junk. So my suburban is usually full of stuff.

Yes I know I did this last year but can't remember if I registered somewhere else or just filled this one form out.

I'm going to get my stickers and a camping space for the weekend.

I just fill this form out,

Select Non-Judging and Camping Space and that's it.

Why do I remember having to register at some site or something?
