Need to look for donor patch sections from other Camaros.... 1)Regarding the "Dog-Leg" area aft of the door opening and BELOW the body crease including the ROCKER section below dog leg ..... 2) The area behind rear tire and below body line .....what OTHER donor cars will fit the 70-73 era ???? Thanks, Chuck S / Seattle

The panels that you are looking for are the same from 70 - 81. You can purchase new quarters and replace all of it. There is a little more work involved but if you have that much rust, chances are that the outer wheel houses are rotted too.

My UPPER qtrs are very good including top arch of wheel opening.....I would much rather keep as much of the original car and its spot welds together, and just replace the bad LOWER areas......besides why use all the labor and N.O.S $1800 qtrs if some good donor sections will work correctly.....Chuck Sharin

If the sheet metal is that good then just replace the bad stuff. You can buy new patch panels. This is a better idea because most donor vehicles are going to have rot in the same locations. Most cars I have found in salvage yards are in much worse shape.

I put patch panels on my 72 and Im not happy at all. They all have to be replaced or massaged by a guy that knows what hes doing. If I hear its too much work, or not worth it, its back to square one and Im going to have to spring for repop quarters.

Im in the market now for a good paint and body man. If anybody from Jersey wants to look at my heap and give me a price on it, just mail me.

I have already replaced the driver side quarter panel with a repo. panel and the process was pretty easy. There is a bunch of spot welds to get through but once that was done the panel fit on with very little trimming and the body lines matched up great. On the passenger side I repaired the area just past the door with a patch panel and the area past the wheel opening I am working on now. All things considering I would rather just have replaced the whole quarter. There is a LOT less welding required and takes less time. I got all the pieces from Moementum and got the discount, that heplped.

I used to have pictures of the whole process I went through when I did the quarter panel, but when the computer crashed and blanked the hard drive I lost them all http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/mad.gif . when I patched the other side I didn't cut into the door jamb area at all, I cut 1/4 inch past the bend on the outside then welded the patch to that point, This way i could get a cleaner line and it was easier also.
