speedfreak1000 10-20-2009, 07:02:50 PM sweet, ask him how much he'd charge just to look at and adjust a carb as he see fit. when i'm at a stop and floor it it kind of bogs down then takes off.
ZZTOP 10-20-2009, 08:08:27 PM I Can do that, I know he will ask so yr and size motor
you have, I know you have already changed the plugs right,
Oh and carb and any rebuild going on
motor or carb ect/they are pretty good like i said his dad had that place there while we was in school, Rick was building blower motrs back then
While in school..well i'm sure he had help but he has been doing this and around it all his life, You know where it is DONS AUTO SERVICE.

ZZTOP 10-21-2009, 09:47:05 AM if your coming from dixie
1st light you come to is st andrews and blanton lane
keep going straight grade school will be on your right then the high school
oh about a 1/2 to 1/4 past the high school on the right is the shop you are talking about that would be claasic muffler the fellows name there is Jim
He is big into mopars ...Dons is prob another 1/2 mile up on the left
before the next light .If you go through that light you passed it.
so yes prob 2/3 miles from dixie on the left side
what you are saying you can cruise fine no miss just when you
get on it it wants to fall or bog on you then go? sound right..
I had a 750 holly on my 72 monte yrs ago that did the same thing I had to change the power squiters.to larger ones to get a bigger shot of gas
ZZTOP 10-21-2009, 09:58:57 AM just talked with curtis for ya 60 bucks to set carb timing fine tuning

He adjusted the carb and timing and hooked the vacum advance up.
The dose seem to idel ? sp ck on that ,, than it ever has.
as far as running it seems hit and miss Good thing it was on the miss side
while leaving Brandon's house today. The man had just turned the corner heading my way.;)
gas mileage seem a heck of a lot better today. The carb has an adjustment
to allow the 4 barrell to open faster or slower ,, I'm gonna play with some
Venom73 10-21-2009, 10:22:47 PM Right after you left and got on it I seen the Cop, I thought he was turning around to go get you, but luckily he kept going:confused:
ZZTOP 10-22-2009, 07:51:31 AM  i said to myself oh shet.. I think he may have been on a run
I hit the breaks never even looked at him ...:shy:
82Vettrin 10-31-2009, 09:37:36 AM any of you ever use Drew over at Street and Strip off Woodlawn ?
I buy parts from him, but have never used his shop services.
saw the "Papa's" Z28 there yesterday; don't know what they were doing to it, but several guys under the hood and fluttering around.
moms1978: I was cutting thru off Poplar Level yesterday, dodging traffic.
south on Poplar Level, off the Watterson, turn left at the bottom of the overpass, (by the Produce place), turn right on Illinois Ave,,, don't remember where from there..... I was cutting-thru to Bishop Lane.. but I remember seeing a place that advertised sandblasting on a banner on a fence back in that area somewhere.. it was a sanitation place (dumpsters, packers, etc.).. Advance, American,, something or another....
we have a guy out here in Bardstown that does it reasonable if you want a hook-up.
ZZTOP 10-31-2009, 05:52:58 PM place on 3rd street also I can get the name this week .If i don't forget :o
72350RS 11-01-2009, 06:12:12 PM All great info. Thanks everyone for posting up. I used Carter's on Preston years back -they were highly recommended (and very reasonable) for the carb rebuild on my 72--
but I think they moved...
to Dixie Hwy... Anybody know about this? I think they're under the name "Carter Alternator and Starter?.."
Anyway, had good luck at Hunt and Knights in the distant past...
Guy named Shannon Anderson in Austin, IN does absolutely fantastic, second to none resto work. Many years ago he worked at Brown Bros. on 4th Stt, and went to work for the Dilgers who owned Nationwide Restoration in Jeffersonville. The Dilgers were also clients of mine, and Brown Bros., for a number of years. He retired, and sold the business, at which point Shannon moved back to the Scottsburg/ Austin area in his business. Absolutely amazing work.
I'll post his info if anybody is interested. I plan on seeing him soon for my car. I really don't know that I would trust my car to anyone else.
ZZTOP 11-02-2009, 09:24:14 PM yeah know i'm still getting a bog as well. Car seems to be running better
But that dang bog. I had a 750 once that did the same it was the power squiter had to go to a bigger size. But this is a qf carb ??? I'm gonna call Mike at Bob hook Tue , See what he would recomend
82Vettrin 11-03-2009, 03:55:01 PM the old Carter Speed Engineering on Woodlawn off Preston is now Drew Tarr's "Steet and Strip".
I don't know if any of the original Carters are still around or not; most of my wrench turners are from out here in the "Country" as y'all say..
ZZTOP 11-04-2009, 09:30:22 PM well the qf has an adjustment on the side to slow the opprning of the rear 4
you can adjust it to come in slower or faster .. Now fellow at qf here at yhe street rod nationals told me to keep it to the slow side.. Well i tweaked here and there. Today I got thinking hell maybe the engines needing the petro faster not slower Maybe that could be my bog>>>???
Well i thought heck I'm gonna back it ouit to the fast side see what happens WOW what a diff i'd say 99 percent better ,,,
rolling up ramp to get on genesnyder from stone street , Had it in dr
got into it a lil then a lil more rhen quite hard WOW did not look at rpms
just grinning it was not bogggggging ,,,now were are rolling i shifted into od
felt rear move a bit and sounded like tires roasted

82Vettrin 11-05-2009, 07:04:07 PM good feeling to find~and~cure it yourself.. ?? :)
I've been a long, long time in trying to master the art(s) of timing and carb adjustment techniques.
don't be hesitant; get a tool and just do it !! :bowtie:
ZZTOP 11-05-2009, 09:12:58 PM yes I hope it has taken car of it. I drove for a lil while yesterday
