I personally like the 5" gauges for speed and tach. There's plenty of room and I like how easy they are for these aging eyes to read at a glance.

^ ^ Those look so f'n badass.

I'm so pissed because I blew a G-note on Autometer Cobalts and they never
made a 5" speedo and tach and these were the ONLY LED backlit style at the
time and if I had just waited........I'd have gotten those. :whine:

Not to mention my $350 Tach came DOA and I didn't know til LOOOONG after I purchased it.
So I'm stuck with it. :(

Mine's not so bad.....but I wanted 5" instead of 3 3/8".

I just bought (7) New Auto Meter Phantom guages off this E-bay seller:http://shop.ebay.com/ihavethebestpriceperformance/m.html

I shopped arround & his prices were hard to beat! They even beat E-Guages.com were Ace bought his. I was going to get mine threw there also but then I found this guy on E-bay.You might want to compare thier prices to Summit's before you buy.I think even with the 10% discount from summit I bet they beat them!!!

I got all 7 of my guages delivered for $400.00 !!!

And.. I had to replace the mech speedo with an electronic for the T56..
guess I should take another picture one of these days.

I never pay attention to the speedo or tach. Sport Comp: 3-3/8" speedo & tach - 2-1/16" fuel level, oil press, water temp and volts. Going to be picking up remote fuel pressure, clock (2-5/8") and maybe oil temp when I get my interior done. I'll post pics in the thread in my sig when I get it done.

Ain't that a b****.......

I even asked the Autometer Support team when and if they would EVER do it.
They told me they had zero plans......

No pictures yet still waiting for last gauge, But I've got 5" tach that was a pedastal mount & shift light, 5" 160mph speedo, 2 5/8" oil pressure inbetween the tach & speedo, water temp to the left of the tach, and 2 1/16 voltage & 2 1/16 gas level on the right. All gauges are sport comps I wanted the important gauges to be big and easy view. Also plan on putting 2 small led warning lights under the water temp & oil press. gauges. I will be making my own gauge panel from aluminum.

here's a cool autometer gauge that's very lightweight ,waterproof and doesn't need any 12v power to illuminate the gauge face .these ultra-lite nite gauge faces are glow in the dark and are very bright and stay that way for a couple hours just for a few minutes of direct light .we use these gauges in all of our race cars and makes wiring very simple

So you all using mechanical or electric speedos?

Aceshigh

All my gauges are full sweep Electric.

Easier IMO. The whole Mech VS Elec debate is a wash
when it comes down to using a quality gauge manufacturer.

Plus I have an LS1 with a PCM running everything.

Mine are all electronic except the boost/vacuum gauge. I had to change the speedo for electric, cause my T56.
The last oil pressure gauge I had in there, the line split, and spewed oil onto my carpet, so I figured never again there.
The water sending unit on mech. gauges is a large piece, and I would have had to either punch a large hole in the firewall to pass the sending unit through, or pass it through an alternate route through the firewall.. then I'd be stuck with that thick ugly temp line... so that was an easy call too. The rest, ie, fuel, tach were already all electronic.
The boost/vacuum gauge I actually got included from the fella I bought a supercharger setup from. It just happened to be the right size and it was a Phantom, so it fit perfectly. I dunno if you can get that in an electronic version, but I didn't have to enlarge the hole to pass that hose through, so no biggie.
So, for the water and oil gauges, I'll never buy mech gauges again for the reasons mentioned above. The only other car I plan on buying gauges for will be my 57 Chevy... and that will be more important to me to have a cleaner looking firewall, etc.

Here's mine, 5" speedo and tach 2 1/16 everything else except the clock. My only complaint is about the lighting, but I wanted silver faced gauges and the ultralights were the only choice at the time. I don't drive it in the dark that often enough to be too upset though.
