its a crate 350 and thats all i know. Also where can i find the specs once i have the engine #?

Usually on the "pad" on the front RH (pass) side of the block, where the head bolts on to the block. Pre 1970 Chevrolets will have a plant date and 2 digit suffix (ex TXXXDZ) and Post 1970 will have a 3 digit suffix (TXXXCRZ).

With the two or three digit suffix you should be able to tell what the block was. I like www.chevymania.com, parts id for a reference.

They are generic engines so spec's on them seldom exist.

Oops missed the "crate" part. Yep, usually not much info unless the dealer stamped the block under warranty repair.
