I need the option portion of my trim tag decoded for a 65 Impala ss built in Los angeles.I've decoded the first 4 groups and those options are on the car, however in group 5 I have a "w" code-anyone know what that is? It may be for front only seatbelts (has bolt holes in the front, but none in the back). Thanks for any help.

Go to the forums at chevytalk.com and post on the Impala forum, I'd bet someone can give you the info. Not a lot of activity on that site but the guys there really know their stuff. I love those 65 SS cars myself. My older brother bougth one new, went to Nam, left it to me for dates etc. Had lots of fun in that car. 327/300 four speed.

W - right exterior rear view mirror is what I have.

Keep in mind these Fisher Body Option codes can and do very by mode, yearl and by plant in what the signify. Also, they can vary by what other options are on the car. In other words a W might mean this accessory if this option is on the car or another accessory if another option is ordered. Always verify by physical evidence on the car.

A W on an Impala may mean something totally different on a Camaro or Chevelle. It all depends on the other options on the car as some options over ride other options or trigger other item etc.
