Hello. I have a 1970 Rs and would like some help with the trim tag and vin decoding please.
It reads: ST 70-12487 BL07820
TR 711 53B
D2D or O2D (the rivet goes through the left edge of the first charcter and can't make it out)
455660 260064

Vin# 124870L508163

Can anyone tell me the build date, body sequence, verify options etc?

Thanks for any help.

The build date is 02D (4th week of February)

The rest of the numbers don't tell you much. No options are coded on the 1970 LA tags.

Thanks Gary. The rest of the tag doen not tell you anything? I thought it told color, trim, engine and trans combo and all that stuff. I think it was gold with a black top originally. I also believe it had a small block/auto drivetrain in it. Is that info right?

BTW 455660 260064 are just internal plant Data Processing Sequence Numbers put on the tag to help ID it when it came time for final assembly. All vehicles in the system generated these. LA was a big GMAD plant building other GM makes and models and this helped them sequence everything. Once it left the plant this ceases to have any meaning. You will find this on the Buildsheet in Box 24.
