I am trying to find a pair of flange pliers. I have a guy coming to weld the patch panels on my 76 this weekend and I cant find a pair of flange pliers. I dont have time to order them onlline. Is it possible to make a pair out of vise grips? Or is there any other tool I could use to make a flange. Thanks

Northern Tool carries an air powered one.
There's a Northern Tool in Madison, TN
Give them a call, they may sell a hand operated one too. 615-865-8920

I just called them, They only carry the air powered. It looks like it might be pretty simple to get a couple pieces of steel and weld them to a pair of vice grips. What do you think?

The manual flanger pliers, ARE vice grips w/ welded on die. literally. I bought a set locally and it still says vice grips on them. If your local paint and body supply store does not stock manual flanging pliers, it's not a very good paint and body store. I'd call around and see if someone has them.

If you have a welder, a pair of vice grips, and some 1/8" flat stock, you could make a set.
Did you try Tractor Supply? Haun Welding Supply? Progas?

I have literally called every store in town, I even called a few body shops to see if they could help, still comin up empty handed. I think making them may be the only choice at this point.

Check HVAC stores, not your home depot (although they might have them) but stores that caters to the HVAC companies in your area. They should have them since we use them to make ducts with.

When I read this I think of the seamer hand tool, or do you want the clamp action also?
If you want the seamer then check the HVAC store and i also just saw on Home Depot that they carry it.
If you want the vise grip go to a welder supply store.

I think that the vise grip would be the best bet. Its pretty thick metal that Im trying to seam/flange.
