Cardinal 08-05-2009, 12:11:00 PM You at least have a cover to work under! When Evil and I were first married, we lived in a mobil home park = gravel driveway and inclement weather (changing oil in a snowbank/rain/hot sun). Chevrolaine 08-05-2009, 12:15:43 PM Shouldn't the Camaro be on the blocks instead of the tent?:p Whatever works man, whatever works! Jim Stokkeland 08-05-2009, 08:09:34 PM LOL, yeah, Spocker... Thanks for tryin to make me feel better John! It's gravel, but not too bad... NO, the Camaro runs...it should not be on blocks. The awning is poured into the blocks , so hopefully it'll take a really big wind to blow it into the cars and the house... The car is on stands and a floor jack. zekefreak 08-05-2009, 10:21:48 PM Jim, you must've been really workin' hard because you had to remove your hat so that you could scratch your head. nbl, brudda!! jdove 08-05-2009, 10:24:50 PM Lookinn good Jim. C'mon, duit.. enjoideviantly 08-06-2009, 12:21:24 AM hey jimbab.. what did you do with the poles and cinder blocks there? how do you get it to not lift in the wind.. fill then with ready cement? Jim Stokkeland 08-06-2009, 06:20:13 AM LOL Mike, I only wear that hat at Carlisle...tryin to cut down on the chances of skin cancer on me punkin... You know I'm duin it DoveBAB!! Hey Lara, how ya been youngun?? Yeah, stuck the poles in the blocks and poured the cells with concrete. I didn't fasten the corners to the roof down, so when it gets windy they flap, but there is no lift...yet anyway!! Mr.SS 08-06-2009, 07:39:15 AM I had the contraption pictured below fastened to 2' long augers that I drove down into the ground and one night it ended up in front of the garage across the big door. It is gone now. It pulled the augers right out and somehow, thankfully, missed the car! :O http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e42/35thLE/7Oct2007001.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e42/35thLE/7Oct2007002.jpg John Wright 08-06-2009, 09:16:34 AM Jim...an AMX? I like 'em!!! Bees like em' too. Jim Stokkeland 08-06-2009, 10:08:20 PM Bees like em' too. LOL, only till a flood of wasp and hornet killer hits em...then they no likey... enjoideviantly 08-07-2009, 03:15:46 AM mr. ss thats a $$$ one! lol. i never though of anchoring with cinder blocks :( i could've done that man! when it flew into the house and scraped my brothers suv i had to take it down because i just couldnt deal with fixing it twice a week :( ill remember this now.. Jim Stokkeland 08-07-2009, 08:46:04 AM Lara, I believe the anchors screwed into the ground would be better than the blocks...don't want blocks hittin your bro's suv... If you leave the sides off, and don't fasten the corners of the tarp, maybe it'll just flap, instead of taking off. Mr.SS 08-07-2009, 12:01:59 PM Lara, I believe the anchors screwed into the ground would be better than the blocks...don't want blocks hittin your bro's suv... If you leave the sides off, and don't fasten the corners of the tarp, maybe it'll just flap, instead of taking off. I think the best idea is to build a timber floor with decent sized (4"x10" or so) rough cut lumber and fasten the shelter to that. Then the weight of the car will hold the whole thing down. If it gets windy enough to move that you won't want to be around anyway!! I was thinking of doing that but the shelter took off before I got around to it so I decided to build another garage instead. zbugger 08-07-2009, 10:52:39 PM So, does it have A/C? Hell, it's better than mine right now. Jim Stokkeland 08-08-2009, 08:29:21 AM So, does it have A/C? Hell, it's better than mine right now. The shop or the car?? LOL, neither, unless there's a breeze... BlueCamaro 08-08-2009, 10:49:15 PM Here's mine... http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g71/71RSZ/DSC02848.jpg Dude, I love your license plate! lol jose's 73 08-16-2009, 12:57:54 AM good ventilation. it doesn't matter where you wrench your ride, as long as you wrench. how does the cinder blocks and concrete work? i set up a car port in from of my garage for extra space but the wind keeps moving it around. rwild1967 08-16-2009, 01:20:28 AM not so bad, fresh air, room to work. my garage is so small I usually work in the drive. pisses of the nieghbors to no end!! but seriously, if I have to work inside I park diagonlly across both spaces! edited for spelling jdove 08-16-2009, 02:09:27 AM Here's mine... http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g71/71RSZ/DSC02848.jpg LOL LOL LOL n/b/l Jimbo... |
