3872870 327ci block with coding 9x3157 means ???
Believe this block goes way back into 1962 to 1965 inclusive.. Can't figure out suffix..

You are right. These 327 blocks were used on 1962-1965 Chevrolets and Corvettes. I assume the "9X3157" is stamped on the front "pad". What else is stamped on the "pad"? What is the casting date on the back?
