ok so I think I have it mostly figured out but I wanted to double check on the outside of the rear end I found these numbers
CM G088 2 G
and if im correct thats 3.42:1 made at Detriot Gear & Axle assembly plant on the 88th day of the year , night shift , and the positrac code is Chevrolet G&A Positraction Carrier
and on the ring gear i found this set of numbers
2GM3984831 12 41 3 74
I dont know what the 1st set of numbers there mean but according to this sites info the 12 41 mean its 3.42:1 gears and the 3 74 mean march of 1974 ...

is all this information correct and is my rear end a posi according to these numbers (sorry im kinda new at this stuff THANKS)

You have the numbers decoded correctly. You can easily tell if it is a posi by looking at the center section when you have it open. A posi will have an S spring and clutches in it while a non-posi has only the spider gears in the center.
