I have a numbers matching 1979 Camaro with a build sheet. The cam, intake, carb, and air cleaner have been upgraded at some point in its life. I want to go back to the originals, but I want the date codes to be correct. From what I have seen, the air cleaner and intake are date coded. Would the cam and carb be date coded? How can I find out what parts are date coded?

Carb would be date coded and be a specific part number for your car. (as would the intake) The cam shaft? Don't know if it is date coded (suspect not) but who will ever see it again? I wouldn't worry about that if it were my car. I might want the correct grind but that's about it.
I didn't think the air cleaners were dated other than the decals...which are replaceable. I could be mistaken
