it is located just to the left of the square opening where the heater core vent is.the reason i ask is because it dosent match my vin at all. and i always thought they were closer to the blower motor hole.

if the letter and the numbers DO NOT MATCH, you have got a swapped VIN car on your hands

hopefully the hidden VIN does not come up stolen or you will lose the car ... :(

maybe that is a state issued VIN number, it does not look anything like an original vin ... the partial numbers never were complete, the model number was left off but the plant ID letter and sequence number were always there

Your VIN looks right for an 80 Camaro, but that other number doesn't look like any partial VIN at all. Have you compared it to the body number on your cowl tag?
It also could be a GM part number for the sheet metal.

duh, forgot to ask, what YEAR is the Camaro ?

its a 80 camaro. didnt even think to compare it to the cowl tag. sounds like it may just be a part #. like i said its not near the blower motor its more towards the heater core. and the car does not look like it has been messed with too much.

ill compare it to the cowl tag and if i need to ill start pulling sheet metal to check for another vin. thanks for the help guys.

thats the part number for the firewall, notice how it is backwards, part number was stamped on the inside of the firewall, so your are reading the back side of the stamping, vin was stamped next to the fan motor behind the heater box in the right cowl area, always stamped from the front of the firewall

Yep. There's also one on the door for that part number. At one time I saw the one on a 70 I had (door) and found out here that's what it was.

FYI: state issued VIN's are never stamped into a car body.
