My buddy and his brother and I flamed his dually yesterday and it turned out awesome. It is very time consuming getting the flames right but in the end it paid off. The painting was good enough that it does not need to be pinstriped, in fact, the way that we ran the flames lapping over with the tape it looks like it was pinstriped by just the way the clear layed and the sharpness of the edges. We started at 9 am and finished at 2am with the final clear. His dad use to work for HotRod magazine painting and building cars in the mid 80's and his Dad tried to just watch but after the base coat he couldn't stand it and took over the gun and started the color fading on the flames, incredible selection of color hilighting. Now with two car paint jobs under my belt, and the second paint job was a 2 footer, I'm going to probably paint the '72 Camaro black and flame it. It is so cool learning these things, wish I didn't have to go to work to pay the bills. I also learned that flaming something with multiple colors is fairly expensive unless you already have the paint. He probably had $300 to $400 in it and he already had some of the paints. Has anyone else already flamed a Camaro, yellow to red with blue tips over a black body? I would love to see some pictures, similar to the Camaro that Goodmark is about to do.

I have the perfect mule for that paint job. My really hot 71 stroker. Its got a real straight body on it except for some rocker panel rot. The black and flames like the goodmark car is exactly what I want to do to it. Problem is, the guy before me loaded on the previous paints, and anti chip paint to boot, all along tjhe rockers and lower valance, so what would have been a good DA job to prep Im seriously considering stripping the whole car, something i didntr want to get involved in.
