I have a '81 Z28 with the original paint still on it. It is a Van Nuys built car, so it has the water base paint. The trim code on it is 75 which is correct. I want to go back with a base / clear paint so does anyone know what the name of the color red that I need to be as close to the correct shade as possible? Any help would be very appreciated.

The name of the color is useless to you because not all paint manufacturers use the same names.
Just go to your paint supplier and ask for 81 Camaro paint code 75. They will mix it the right color.

I have a79' with the red 75 paint code,
I actually had the paint supplier scan a decent piece of the cars paint and looked at their paint chips for a decent match. Came out perfect.

I removed the spoiler, lights and rear bumper this evening. The paint under the center spoiler was unfaded of course so I'll just take the decklid to the paintshop and let em do their thing. I wasn't aware of the variations of color from shop to shop. Going back with the original color tri orange stripe kit also. Thanks for everyone's help, just trying to keep it as close to the original color as possible.
