vin is 124870L519267 and it has a 396 and a 4 speed i wanna say it is a SS he said it had SS badges on it but he doesnt think it is. How do I find out someone just didnt put a 396 in it. and how do i find out what model it is? thanks 1970.

A 70 vin doesn't tell you anything, but if you can get the info. off of the trim tag someone might be able to help you out.

If it was built at Van Nuys, the cowl tag won't help identify it.
Check the engine pad to see if the engine is a 70 396 for a Camaro, and check the VIN stamped on the engine to see if it matches the VIN on the car.
Other things you can check that a SS396 should have, but won't completely identify it as a SS396. It should have rear swaybar. It should have a 12 bolt rear end. It should have power brakes.

LA built car, look for a build sheet. That would really help also.

They only made 600 that yr 396. If its a true 396 1970 thats a nice find.

Actually, there were 2,464 1970 SS396 cars built. 600 of them had the L78 396/375hp engine and 1,864 of them had the L34 396/350hp engine. Either way it is very desirable as it is lower production than even the Z28.

SS was just an option
396 engine was just an option
