ive got 15x9 american racing wheels. with bf goodriches 275/60/15 out back. Ive also got summit drag shocks on the back and they are set at the medium stifness setting. when i drive over bumps and stuff, the sidewall of the tire scrapes the fender, not as bad as when i had the stock shocks on. How can i fix this problem? cause i would like to use the bf goodrich drag radials and the 275's look mean.
thanks

2 options, jack the back of the car up (I personally think this looks goofy) or use a deeper offset wheel to get the tire inboard, like a 5" backspace.

with 275/60/R15s, you'll need more backspacing. I've had that same setup with like 4" or something and they would rub. You should go with 5" like mentioned above. If you don't have money for new rims, then you'll have no choice but to jack the car up, and maybe grow a mullet while you're at it.

I would just get a spacer plate and throw it on there. Say 1/8"? You MAY have to put in longer wheel studs for this, but I doubt it. That would be a quick fix and shouldn't get you a ticket for having your tires out beyond the fenders.

My 245/60/14 BFGs used to rub in the back when I would corner, but that disappeared when I rearched my leaf springs and redid my suspension. Perhaps your suspension is shot?

You can't "set" your backspacing.

BS is the distance from the outside edge of your rim to the mounting flange, as measured from the back side.

You can reduce BS by the use of spacers, but you cannot increase it.

So you either need new rims with more BS, new tires that aren't as wide, roll the fender lip, or you need to raise the suspension.

If the fender rub is very slight, rolling the fender lip is the cheapest solution.

The best solution (as you want to keep the 275's) is new rims.

Jacking the rear end is the worst solution.

Click on my camera. I'm running 275/60-15's on 15x8 wheels. The only time I've had them rub is with three people in the car and hitting a big bump, or on REALLY hard turns. The backspace is 4 1/2 inches. It fit's right, looks right, and works for more people than just me. Find out your backspace and let us know. Oh yeah, I did roll the fender lip, but only for my own peace of mind. The way I drive, I get it to rub on purpose.

just wait until it rubs enough rubber off the tire and then they won't hit anymore. LOL (sorry 'bout that cheif')

This looks like a good spot for me to ask ?
Does anyone know what the widest 15" wheel & tyre I can fit on the rear of my '73 RS, the lip has been rolled up. Maybe some one could the also tell me the back spacing for a 15x8 for the front as well
