Steve, continuing on with my 16X8 wheel question. Checked the wheels again and they are actually 5 inch backspacing. You ran 245/50 16s on the front with no rubbing or other problems? It is at stock ride height. I would like to run them all around. Thanks

hey chuck,
i run the vette brakes transverse monoleaf with tubular control arms up front and i don't have any control arm or inner fender clearance problems.
i have been told by others that if you have the stock control arms you'll need to grind a notch for clearance in the bend out of the control arm stamping (i don't know if you understand what i'm trying to say) to get the 5in bs wheels to turn lock to lock without contacting the control arm. just put them on and turn the wheel until it hits the control arm, mark and notch until ther is adequate clearance. that turn out does provide some bucking stiffness to the control arm wall, but i've never heard of anyone having a problem as a result of the notching.
the inner fender clearance should be good with the stock control arm. i think i run about 3/4 to 1" below stock ride height in the front. i can get a groung to fenderwell height for you if you're interested.
a word of caution, i had a problem with running the iroc rears (5" bs) on my rear wheels. i got sidewall scuff marks on the rear inner wheelhouse when i was cornering hard (latteral g's high and the suspension was loaded), especially if the road surface sucked (holes and bumps). it may not affect you as i have the fiberglass rear monoleafs, and i think i get a little more rear end latteral motion with them than folks with stock steel springs. after i put the iroc fronts (~4.4" bs) on the rear i haven't had any rear any rear rubbing. just check for rubbing periodically if you run 5"bs out back. the scuffs will be obvious. if it happens buy a 1/4 spacer and that should fix you up.
good luck.
