i have a basically stock 350 and want more power cheap-like. little info on the motor: 350 block from 70 impala w/ not-so amazing stock heads. i dont know much else about internals as i bought the motor used. have a holley street dominator intake w/ a holley 750. full length headers into dual 2 1/4 pipe into flowmasters and out the back. 3.23 lsd, th350.

what do u all reccommend to wake this car up on the cheap. i am thinking cam for starters. i know the carb is too big, but the price was right. would i be able to jet it down and make it behave a little better? it is definately running rich. i know u need the motor a little rich for nitrous, would that be a good route to go? i dont wanna spend a lot, but i want it to be a fun car to drive. i would like to see some respectable 1/4 times, tho i've never taken it to a track to see what it clocks currently.

The casting numbers will give you more info on what you're working with to get a better start. For the block, it will be behind the driver's side head, and for the heads it will be under the valve covers. That will give a better idea of performance potential, and a better understanding of what good cam choices, ect are. The more info you give, the more we can help.

NOS will kill any engine quick if not used right...... That is always at your own risk. For that I think it would be a lot safer on a fresh rebuild with the rings gapped for NOS, and a timing controller.

After you get the head numbers, if it's the 76cc castings, my choice would be good 64 cc heads, and a stiffer cam (maybe a 282 if the comp is high enough). It should work decent with that intake, but the carb will be a downfall for you.

All of these choices are dependent of budget, intended use, and goals for the car..... the faster you want to go, the more it costs.

Post back the letters at the end of the long VIN number string that should be on the little deck pad that's right above the pass. side top water pump bolt and we will decode it for you.

Probably still a virgin.

This way we can tell you what it's CR is so you can pick a cam.

Head numbers will help too.

add these(not mine)
http://norfolk.craigslist.org/pts/991829182.html

and a nice 268-274 cam, springs, some .015 head gaskets

spend time tuning that 750 and getting your timing right and you'll have alot of fun for under $400

Think about the heads and cam everyone is talking about that will be the best way to get some more power that you will notice. Also you might want to change that rear gear to help you on the 1/4 mile times
