Scott, as always I am interested in getting together. I have heard of a few Camaro clubs around the area. I am not much of a structured "clubber" as some of these are. I just like to get together around cruise nights and caravan in. It is good to see a bunch of like cars parked together.

No, I have not gotten the car out this year. I have to install the shocks I ordered. I also have to look into getting a new Brake Booster. Turns out mine is shot. I noticed last year the brakes required a bit of force to stop.

I can usually be found at Applebees/Steak and Shake in Tinley Park around 161 and Harlem.

No problem! I got started late. At 8 I had a buddy on the phone telling me that there was a bunch of classics heading south towards lemont then 10 minutes later another buddy calls me up and tells me that it was Camaro night. Oh well got the rest of the summer. Definitely keep me posted on the "go to" cruise nights. Some one at the Promonade was saying that theres on at the Home Run Inn Pizza on 75th and Main in Woodridge.

I'm actually pretty new here, been trying to read up as much as I can and watch how some people are restoring their Camaros. I'm currently living in St. John, IN (about 30-45 mins south of Chicago) and recently bought a 1981 Camaro (not a true Z28 :[...)

If any of you guys know a good body shop around I'd like to get in touch with them and check out some of their work. I'll check out this Car show in Bowlingbrook as well and see how many Camaro's show up there. Anyone know of any other spots in or around Chicago?

Anyone got a recommendation of a good shop that can look at my Holley DP?

Earlier this spring I had the choke horn machined off. Using a 2" filter so the setup clears my hood, the lid was sitting on the choke horn. Now with the horn machined off I believe I am getting much better airflow.

The car starts and runs great. However when using moderate to heavy acceleration from a stop or a 2nd gear cruise, there is a noticeable dead spot where the car accelerates, goes flat then accelerates stronger. The flat spot can be partially overcome by applying more pedal, but it is still there. Aside from removing the horn, nothing else was done.

Advice/Shop recommendations?

Plainfield on Tuesday's....because I live here...typically a good turn out.
I had heard there were 70 cars last week, weather was pretty gray so not too bad.

Babe's in Joliet on 52 on Wednesday......close to me....about 60-70 cars, good food!

Can't find a website for it Ace but here's a blurb about it 2 years ago. This will be the 10th anniverary show. It's freakin HUGE. They also have a cruise night the night before that draws about 200 cars or so. July 25 & 26 this year.

I'll scan my flyers when I get home later and post em.
I expect to see you and Scotty their!

The Turning Back Time Weekend, featuring the Fizz Ehrler Memorial Car Show, is back for its eighth annual event. The show is named after lifelong Sycamore resident and auto mechanic Glenn “Fizz” Ehrler, who died in 2001.

About 800 cars came to last year's memorial show, organizer Chuck Criswell said, and this year's festivities are expected to bring in about 1,000 classic, custom and antique cars. Organizers also are expecting about 60 motorcycles and 4,000 spectators.

Morris is probably 5-6 blocks long and all of the side streets off the main street.....no picture would do it justice.....maybe an aerial.

Sycamore Cruise Night July 25th from 4pm-8pm!!
FYI, It's more of a show as they only go out and cruise for about 30 minutes. Most are afraid to go as they'll most likely lose their parking spot upon returning.

A few years ago it was kinda cool as they had a poker run instead of the cruise.
Not sure why they ended that. Still a good time though!

The car show on Sunday should definitely be on the "Don't Miss" list of shows though for the summer in this area.

I-80 West to the Morris exit (Rte 47), south on Rte 47 (about 1 1/2 miles?) to Washington St & take a right(west). Cruise Night cars get into the staging lane at Washington Street & Liberty Street......otherwise for spectators, pick a sidestreet to park on. Morris Cruise Night is from 6pm-9pm, but I am heading out at 3:00pm to be able to make it to Liberty Street in time. The 50/50 raffle last month was $3200!!!! when you pay your $10 to get into the Cruise Night, you automatically get 3 raffle tickets!!

Ace or anyone else, if you want to meet at the TK, we can go to my house between, about 15 minutes away, then catch up with Scotty at 3:00, about a 20-25 minute ride from there.
I'm definitely with Scotty when it comes to leaving early for Morris, especially if we want to have any chance of parking near each other.

Are we talking about the one in Lisle ?? I don't know if there's more then one.

I have to see if I can round up the family for this event or if I'm swinging
solo I'm just going to jump on my Harley and head out. My 442 is waiting
on a new lower seat spring assembly but other then that it's completed.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the Tilted Kilt guys.....
My mother didn't get off work til 2pm and I was running behind.

We just went to Morris for the show and I met up with Scotty.
Overall great show. 7 full blocks including probably 50 feet down
each intersection side street. Very cool to see all the cars.

I was most interested in the 2010 burgundy Camaro SS with the
2 tone leather interior and ground effects kit as well.....badass.

Scott's 2nd gen was probably best in the show if you ask me.
His car is like a COMPLETELY new vehicle that's never seen moisture or dirt
from the ground to the roof top. With carbon fiber additions everywhere.

The tie would possibly be with the car RIGHT next to him which was a
1969 Hurst Olds convertible with the white and gold paint job.....smokin hot car.

I agree Ace, Scott's car just pops out at you like few others. It literally looks like it came off the showroom floor. I checked out that Maroon 10 also...pretty frickin sweet.

It was a pleasure meeting him and his 2 loves yesterday and especially humorous when I introduced myself. Seems he thought I was a young punk like you and not a gray old man!

He told me you were there but I missed you in the crowd somehow. It was an awesome show, we hope to bring about 6-7 cars down next month. Can't wait.

Yea.....I'm a talker.....but there are VERY few on here that I could call QUIET, you included..LOL

It does get crazy trying to talk to everybody that shows up at those shows............what we need to do, is organize a CHICAGOLAND and surrounding areas Get-Together......and spend a whole day jaw-jacking, and car showing!!

Ace and Laine....thank you for the nice words about the car........I am very proud and fortunate to have that car.

Plenty of room for 50 cars, tents, etc. or you can just sleep in the barn with the coons!

No lie on that Hurst Olds....and the Burgundy 10 Camaro, that one caught my eye as soon as we pulled in.
About 20 - 25 cars at the Tilted Kilt, I assume rain scared most away....maybe try it again next month.

Dave.

Thanks Laine!
Sorry I missed you in Morris.
The "Tilted Skirt" is in Lisle, about 15-20 minutes from my house in Plainfield, Morris is about 25 minutes south of my house, all country roads.
They do car shows the 2nd Saturday of the month, same as Morris.
Maybe you can come out a little earlier next month and we can meet up there.

I understand you & Scotty are putting something together for the Fall? I'm in, just let me know what you need me to bring.

I think so.....only their 2nd show, first time for me.
They have the bikes there the 3rd Saturday of the month.
I could see, weather permiting, a good turn out.

They hooked up with http://hotroddeals.com/, photographer takes pictures of all the cars with the girls and posts them.

Just checked the pictures, (left hand side near the bottom of the page), pretty cool cars, I was only there for a couple of hours.

I hope it's not one of those monopolized things where you can't get the girls
to take photo's because the photographer wants to get exclusive rights to use them
so they can get paid......is it ??

Is this something any of you Northern IL/So. Wisc peeps would be interested in attending?
If I hosted it, it would be about a 70-90 mile drive from the burbs or Madison area.

We're just trying to get a feeler for a late Sept. or mid Oct gathering.

I'd love to meet up with some local Nasty Z members! I live just over the border in Dyer, IN. Anything too far north or west would probably be out of the question for me though.

Lansing's monthly cruise night is next Saturday. http://www.lopf.org/events.htm They reserve parking downtown for participants. Usually 1 or 2 live bands, BBQ, vendors...
