Been thinking a long time about what to do with my rear seat area. Finally got the time and guts to get started. Using 1/2" MDF
Anchor points on rear firewall.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/rearseatdelete003.jpg
Used blocks to keep straight across spare tire hump.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/rearseatdelete005.jpg
Floor cover screws to 2x4's and floorpan.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/rearseatdelete008.jpg
Test fit the complete puzzle.

http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/rearseatdelete009.jpg
I'll add updated pictures when more is done.

looks pretty good. you could use the MDF as a template and bend up sheet metal or aluminum so it would weigh a lot less.

That will work for a street car, cut some big round holes for the speakers and uphulster it. If yer racing the car you might want to reconsider and use it as a template for some aluminum pieces.

Yes i considered alum., but i've got plans for speakers and a storage area, the MDF will work better for me. Just a street car for now.

i think carpet on the bottom section and black vinyl on the upper part would look sweet. maybe put a wood chevy sign on the upper part before vinyling it to make a relief.

Battman, you read my mind. Got black vinyl in a diamond plate pattern for the top and matching black carpet for the bottom. Plan to put chevy bowtie at the top, two 6x9 speakers in the middle and a black 13x30 hatch door on the bottom to create a storage area.

Got the hatch from this marine supply place.
http://www.marinesurplusinc.com/servlet/Detail?no=1297
They've also got smaller ones in black, if you wanted to go with one on each side and have a space in the middle for your no2 bottle.
These are no longer available here, the size of the opening was 11"x27". Using two of these might be an alternative.https://www.surplusunlimited.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=4709&Category_Code=0900

Here's the weekly update. Got everything installed. Filled and sanded cracks and screw holes.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC03731.jpg
Test fitted the vinyl. This would be so easy without the roll bar.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC03728.jpg
While I was back there got a pic of seat belt installation. They came out of a 2001 Trans Am. Everything bolted into the stock locations with stock bolts. All I had to do was trim the hole in the cover to allow the clip to pass through. It locked in and holds the cover in place. Hole thing took about 15 minutes(with the seats out). Easiest part of this project.

Got a chevy bowtie emblem off a 2008 2500hd tailgate coming and have Kenwood 6x9's ready to install.

No problem. Any particular area you need pics of? This was easy. I used the original bolts and holes. No mods at all but a dremel to the cover and these belts are easier to find in good condition. Also, thanks to all for the positive comments.

Nice work, the whole interior looks very nice. I'm looking to do something similar to my trunk, and add some type of storage doors on the sides so I can put heavy things inside the trunk and not have to worry about them hitting the inside of the 1/4's. Maybe somewhere to hide my spare as well, but its all down the road. Have you done anything with your trunk, or did you have plans? I was just curious to see if you were going to carry over that theme to the trunk as well.

They are called hinged escutcheons and I got them in the plumbing section at Home DePot. My roll bar is 1.75", the 2" escutcheons did the job.

I am planning on doing this too. I was thinkin of doors on both sides of the quarters, but i'll probly just have subs there, then a hatch in the front for the spare

It's a B&M Hammer shifter and yes, it comes with the shifter box. To use this center console, I cut of the brackets that held the factory console so it would fit snug against the trans hump. I think they make one that fits on top of the stock console. I know they do for 1st gens, been thinking about one for my 68 convert. Don't know if these two pieces will cover the existing hole in stock carpet. I bought new acc carpet from fbody. If you do this setup, call the guy at fbody and he knows what carpet config. to order. We had to do some trial and error with mine.

A member pm me with some questions. Here are some pics showing more details.
The top piece was angled to follow the lip on the armrest trim piece.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC04065.jpg
The bottom section is anchored to the floor with a strap attached to a block inside the MDF. I sat on it an screwed it in for a tight fit.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC04069.jpg
The top piece meets the original package tray edge.
http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC04066.jpg
To allow for the roll bar, I had cut a seam for the hole. Hard to see back there.http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k352/chipmanz28/DSC04072.jpg
Also, cut all carpet and vinyl 1-2 inches larger than the wood piece, then tuck it under. You can hide a 1/2 gap easily.
