I have an 1977 Camaro LT with dealer installed t-tops. One of the clips (roughly 3/4 in squared L-brackets) that hold the T-tops secure has broken. Are ehse available any where?

Sounds like you have the Hurst style t-tops if they were dealer installed. Might try National Parts Depot and see if they have them. I know they have the weatherstripping for them. Hope this helps! http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Sorry to break it to you kirbi69, but the first production T-top in a Camaro was made in 1978. They made roughly 2000 Hurst t-top cars, then about half way through, they began to make the Fisher style t-top. The Fishers continued until 2002. The Hurst tops made in 78 were actually installed in the Hurst factory after the cars were completed. They were still considered factory t-tops. Trans-ams had them in 1976 til mid 1978. Here's a link for more info. http://nastyz28.com/2gcog/stegmiller/t-tops.htm

Any T-Tops in a Camaro before 1978 or a Firebird before 1976 were aftermarket units installed by dealer or other custom shop. The most common aftermarket tops are C&C and American - although technically Hurst may have been an "aftermarket" supplier before 1976.

Either way- in the case of your dealer installed tops- definetly find out which you have first. The quickest way to do this if you have no idea is to take a pic and post it for everyone to see (pic of the outer side of panel).

I beg to differ on the fact that firebirds didn't have factory Hurst Hatches before 1978. If you follow the link in my last post, you see that Stegmiller states that Pontiac F-body's had them in 76 & 77. Follow this link and it further backs up my point. The bandit T/A's had them original.

Now, they weren't Fisher tops that were actually molded as part of the body, they were cut in place at the Hurst factory, but they were still considered original t-top cars. There is a picture of a manual in that last link that actually says "Pontiac 1977 Hatch Roof Service Manual". They put these in Firebirds that had that top factory.

Sorry about that Eric. I guess my letters were blurring. I am getting pretty old now you now. I thought that you had posted that no Camaro or Firebird before 78 had factory t-tops. My bad.
