Im a little upset but if it stays together It will be okay. The guy had alot of engines there maybe he didnt remember exactly what was in each one?

Crankshaft:

Pistons:

Rods:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SCA%2D26000&autoview=sku

this appears to be the correct parts, only one I havent found a number on is the rods, the guy said the crank was forged and the line in it is real wide like a forged crank so I thought it was.

I thought that crank looked like a 9000 series. Flange is different, I suppose they milled it off as part of the balance job.

Other than the pistons, you have the exact shortblock I built for Gregh that he's run for several years including several bottles of nitrous. So long as you didn't pay for a forged crank, I wouldn't worry about it.

"Several bottles of nitrous"????????

How about 200+ 1/4 mile runs at 1 1/2 lbs per run.
Those would be some pretty big bottles, LOL.

I'm very impressed with the 9000 series cranks, I've hurt 2 of them(bad convertor killed the thrust surface, twice), spun a rod due to a oil pump pickup breaking & the same crank got cut & re-installed.

Pretty tough in my opinion for a cast crank.

Well thats cool, no I dont think I paid for one but I did think I had one, If I had know maybe I woulda jewwed him down a little more but I probrably still woulda bought it.

What happened? Do I need to be worried?

Not the right part number but the right rod type. look closly at the cap parting line, see how its square vs rounded.

Your first link was a 5.7 rod and the second was a 350 rod? 350 400 doesnt matter anyway does it!

I doubt it.

400's are more sensitive to thrust issues than other SBC's but with the proper gap(convertor to flexplate), it isn't a major worry. This TCS convertor had huge issues with internal endplay & was sent back to me as fixed, it wasn't.
Chewed up 2 cranks & then I learned you can weld Scat 9000 series cranks.

The original rod length in a 400 is 5.56" but other than that they are the same. The rod length is what is varied.

The links are just so you can see the picture which shows the difference in the large end of the rod where they are seperated. Scat has three different rods, the hbeams, pro, and stock replacements which are the ones used in your engine.
I cant find where you posted your bottem end pics to double check but as it stands I believe I have seen what are to be scats stock replacement rods.

Do your rods have a nut and bolt on the rods or just a bolt?

There was alot of talk about destroyed thrusts over on the bullet, from what I gathered the damage was caused by the transmissions and not the converters. A manufacture also posted a link to their website which stated what the damage would/could have been if it was caused by the converter. The converter will take out the trans and thrust if its the culprit. Unsure of what your damage or problem was. JFYI

This was the convertor, no question. The tranny got flushed & ran perfectly fine for 2 more years & the convertor had 3 times the internal end play that it was supposed to have.

No they have the strap on the back & cap screws so they are at least "pro stock" I believe

Can you repost a pic of the bottom end? I went to the domain but it will not enlarge the pic. I would hate to steer you in the wrong direction.

Hi Mike thanks for posting the pic.
Those are the Pro stock and not the procomp. The pic shown @ summit to which you hyperlinked shows the procomp pic for the pro stock rod. This is the link @ summit for your rods in 5.7. Click and enlarge pic.

I wouldnt worry about them either unless its not what you payed for.
Im not sure if scat stamps their cranks on the counter weights but rotate the engine and look for a stamping number to verify what crank you have. You might as well make sure now.

My Scat 9000 cranks have the part # stamped into the front counterweight.
